Kevin Spacey to face civil sex assault claims in London court in 2026
Kevin Spacey will face civil claims of sexual assault from three men in October 2026 at the High Court in London.
The three men have sued the star, who they claim sexually assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. A judge put forth the provisional trial date of October 12th, 2026, at a hearing on November 26th. It is not officially determined whether the claims will be heard in a single civil trial or three consecutive ones.
One of the men alleges that Spacey “deliberately assaulted” him on approximately 12 occasions, taking place between 2000 and 2005.
Another alleges that he met Spacey at London’s Old Vic theatre through a workshop. Consequently, the unnamed man “suffered psychiatric damage and financial loss” as a result of an assault on Spacey’s behalf in 2008. He was artistic director of the Old Vic from 2004 to 2013.
The third man, Ruari Cannon, has waived his right to anonymity. He also ran into the actor via the Old Vic; Cannon acted in Tennessee Williams’ play Sweet Bird of Youth at the venue in 2013. He reports that Spacey groped him at a party after the show’s press night.
Spacey denies all allegations. As per BBC, he said that the allegation was “ridiculous and it never happened”.
Recently, the former actor revealed that legal costs, following a slew of sexual misconduct accusations, led to him selling his home, explaining, “Because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
The Usual Suspects star also added, “I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”
Spacey was acquitted of sexual assault charges brought by four men in a UK criminal trial in 2023. Additionally, Spacey was sued in New York civil court in 2022 by actor Anthony Rapp over sexual assault allegations. However, he was found not liable by a jury.
Spacey has only worked sporadically since allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him in 2017, most famously losing his role in All the Money in the World, which he had been cast in at the time the accusations surfaced.
