Kevin Costner releases trailer for ‘Horizon: An American Saga’
Actor and director Kevin Costner has released the trailer for the first instalment of his multi-part, self-funded passion project Western, Horizon: An American Saga, with Part One set to arrive on June 28th this year.
Following that first theatrical release, Part Two will find its way onto screens just two weeks later on August 16th. Costner has been working on Horizon since 1988.
Horizon has been written, directed by and will star Costner. After striking distribution deal with Warner Bros and New Line, the actor set out for Utah, where he shot the first two parts back to back.
Costner has decided not to take any further part in the TV series Yellowstone and has also chosen to remortgage his house in order to fund Horizon.
“America’s expansion into the west was one that was fraught with peril and intrigue from the natural elements to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it,” Costner said of the project last year.
“Horizon tells the story of that journey in an honest and forthcoming way, highlighting the points of view and consequences of the characters’ life and death decisions,” he added.
Depending on the success of the first two parts of Horizon, Costner would like to film two more instalments. It takes place over a four-year period during the American Civil War.
Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Ella Hunt, Tim Guinee, Danny Huston, Colin Cunningham, Scott Haze, Tom Payne and many more form the ensemble cast.
