Kate Hudson says she has “out aged” playing Stevie Nicks in a biopic
In a new interview on BBC Radio 2, Kate Hudson stated she believes she is now too old to play a younger version of Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks in a biopic.
Last year, Hudson made headlines when sharing her intentions to portray Nicks on screen. The Almost Famous star said the most important element she would look for when signing up for a biopic is “the interesting life, and being able to tell that story correctly,” which is why she believed Nicks would be the perfect fit.
She added to Rolling Stone: “The ultimate is Stevie [Nicks]. But my family might, like, disown me if I ever got a chance to play Stevie. ‘Cause they’d be like, ‘Can we not go method?’ I would probably go way too far into that character.”
However, now, Hudson, who performed on BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room on February 20th, explained why she no longer believes the project is viable.
When probed about her previous comments, Hudson said, “Oh, I mean, who wouldn’t want to play Stevie Nicks? I think, I think I’ve out aged that. I think a little too old to play young Stevie Nicks now, but, but I would like to write a musical that’s really, that’s really kind of something I’d love to that’s like on my bucket list.”
In response, host Vernon Kay jokingly suggested, “So that would be cool. Yeah, I’ll be Mick Fleetwood,” which elicited Hudson to reply, “Oh, well, then let’s do it.”
Other actors who have previously thrown their hat into the ring to portray Nicks in a biopic include Lindsay Lohan and Margot Robbie, but no project has ever come to fruition.
Last year, Hudson released her debut album, Glorious, and recently shared the deluxe version which included two new tracks. However, she also remains committed to acting and is set to star in the new Netflix comedy series Running Point, which arrives on the streaming platform on February 26th.
