Kasabian share new single ‘Call’ from upcoming album, ‘Happenings’

British indie rockers Kasabian are returning with a new album this year, Happenings, and now they have released the record’s lead single, ‘Call’, in anticipation.

The album comes three years after their previous output, The Alchemist’s Euphoria, which was the band’s first record not to feature Tom Meighan.

Meighan left the group in 2020 after accusations of domestic abuse came to light, which he eventually pleaded guilty to. Now, the lineup consists of Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Tim Carter.

‘Call’ is an anthemic hit that sees Kasabian continue to hone a more dancefloor-ready sound. Discussing the song, Pizzorno said, “This was the launchpad. Quieter on the verses, loud for the chorus – it’s dance music!”

He added: “The first bit is where you get ready, the second bit is where we all go crazy. It’s really fun and just feels like now. When I finished the track, I felt I wanted to go to a gig by whoever was behind it. Everything for this album was informed by that way of working.”

The new album is set for release on July 5th and possesses a short run time of just 26 minutes. Happenings was co-produced by Pizzorno and Mark Ralph.

“It’s 20 years this year since we released our debut album, but we felt the best way this band, at this time, should celebrate that was by making a new album,” Pizzorno added.
