Julia Louis-Dreyfus protests against ICE in New York: “GET ICE OUT”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was among the thousands who marched against ICE in New York over the weekend.

Across recent days, protests have sparked up across the United States after Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE official on January 7th in Minnesota.

Good, who described herself as a “poet, writer, wife, and mom” on her Instagram account, was a 37-year-old mother of three who had recently moved to Minnesota.

It has since been revealed that the ICE official responsible for her death is named Jonathan Ross.

Subsequently, a GoFundMe page set up to financially aid Good’s widow and family has raised over $1.5 million in donations.

At the Golden Globes on January 11th, several prominent Hollywood stars, including Mark Ruffalo, Jean Smart, Wanda Sykes and Natasha Lyonne, wore badges in support of Good.

Meanwhile, in New York, Seinfeld star Dreyfus was among the thousands who took to the streets to protest ICE in light of the tragic death of Good.

Dreyfus shared a series of images from the march on Instagram, including one which showed her holding a placard that reads, “Renee Good – ICE Bad”.

She also shared an image of another placard, which reads, “Sorry JD (Vance), I know what I saw”, relating to comments made by the Vice-President who described her “death as a tragedy of her own making” while saying “Ross deserves a debt of gratitude”.

According to the New York Times, thousands of peaceful protesters made their voices heard in the southeast corner of Central Park in New York on January 11th, before making their way to Fifth Avenue and Trump Tower. They also condemned the recent military action by Donald Trump’s administration in Venezuela.

At the protest, Alexa Avilés, a City Council member from Brooklyn, reportedly said, “It’s a damn shame we’re out here in 2026 fighting against a fascist government.”

Dreyfus has been a vocal critic of the president. Prior to the 2024 election, the actor, who endorsed Kamala Harris, condemned Trump, telling potential voters, “Donald Trump and his merry band of yes men are obsessed with what we women do with our bodies.”

She added, “They want to reach into our doctors’ offices and our bedrooms to control our access to birth control and IVF and, of course, abortion – even though they wouldn’t know a uterus if they had to crawl out of one for a second time.”
