Julia Jacklin returns with new single and announces new album ‘The Gem’

Jula Jacklin has returned with her new single, ‘Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon)’, alongside details of her forthcoming album, The Gem.

The album, which Jacklin produced alongside Robert Muinos and made in Melbourne, is set to arrive on September 25th through 4AD.

According to Jacklin, The Gem’s overarching theme is, “I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life.”

The title is taken from a pub in Melbourne, which Jacklin found upon moving to the city in 2017, and almost a decade later, recorded The Gem in a studio located above the very same drinking establishment.

Jacklin elaborated, “The Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.”

While initially, Jacklin believed the album would only take two weeks to complete, it turned out to be close to a year, and on the final day, those involved with the album got matching tattoos of a gemstone. She said of the gesture, “It did really feel like we’d done something special together. And I think as a group, it felt important to commemorate it. I’m glad we all have these little gems on us.”

Although The Gem won’t arrive until September, Jacklin will be giving fans in the UK and Ireland a sneak peek in the next few weeks during her in-store tour.

The solo jaunt will begin in Dublin on June 28th, followed by a visit to Resident in Brighton on June 29th, Rough Trade East in London on June 30th, Jacaranda in Liverpool on July 2nd, and Rough Trade in Nottingham on July 3rd.

Jacklin will return to the UK and Ireland for a more extensive tour in 2027, which will begin in Birmingham on February 13th at the Town Hall. She’ll also visit Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow and Bristol before a huge show at the Eventim Apollo in London.

Then, Jacklin will head to mainland Europe for shows in Brussels, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, and Lisbon.

Additionally, Jacklin has outlined a lengthy North American headline tour for 2026, which will begin in San Diego on October 20th, and wrap up in Philadelphia on November 21st.
