Jimmy Kimmel rips into the Trump family after Melania distances herself from Epstein: “She must really hate him”

Jimmy Kimmel has gone for Donald Trump once again, who appeared to be caught unawares after his wife, Melania, made a curious statement about her alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a speech given at the White House on April 9th, the First Lady surprisingly referenced a 2002 email she had sent, which responded to disgraced sex traffickers Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein in a friendly manner. Melania shared: “The lies linking me with Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.”

She went on, “I’ve never been friends with Epstein. I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorised as anything more than casual correspondence.”

The Epstein files originally showed that Maxwell had responded to the email in a similarly familiar tone, addressing Melania as “sweet pea”.

Both correspondences were deleted by the Department of Justice on January 30th. As such, the First Lady hasn’t felt much active pressure in the last few weeks surrounding the scandal.

The general public, including Kimmel, were baffled as to why Melania would drag the affairs back into the spotlight: “Why is this happening today?”

Referring to Trump’s war in Iran, Kimmel explained, “He spent the past six weeks trying to bomb this Epstein story out of the headlines. Two days after the ceasefire, she puts it right back on top.”

He added, “She must really hate him. I don’t know how else to explain it,” before musing, “He didn’t know she was going to do it before she did it, which shows you just how smoothly things are running over there.”

Nodding to Trump’s lack of power in his marriage, despite his evident desire to run the world, Kimmel added suggestively, “For whatever reason, she didn’t ask. She didn’t give him a heads up. She just went right out in front of the cameras and fired away.”

Melania’s official address only became stranger as she urged Congress to hold a hearing with Epstein survivors: “Give these victims their opportunity to testify under oath in front of Congress with the power of sworn testimony,” she insisted.

However, Republican Representative Thomas Massie has since noted online that it’s been the Trump administration that has prevented Epstein survivors from testifying.

In March, Kimmel also poked fun at the wedded couple, after Trump was spotted almost drifting off to sleep while his wife shared a statement about her documentary film, Melania, which reportedly became the most expensive documentary ever when Amazon spent $40m on the rights.
