Watch Jeremy Strong become Mark Zuckerberg in first ‘The Social Reckoning’ trailer
The hotly anticipated first trailer has arrived for Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network sequel, titled The Social Reckoning.
The movie, which is described by Sony Pictures as “a companion piece to The Social Network“, is set for release in cinemas around the world on October 9th, 2026.
The Social Reckoning is set 17 years on from The Social Network, which explored how Mark Zuckerberg forged Facebook during his brief stint at Harvard.
In the time that has passed, Facebook has gone from a social media network that allowed friends to connect digitally to a bigger beast than anyone could have imagined, reshaping global politics.
The official synopsis for The Social Reckoning reads, “The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.”
Notably, Zuckerberg is played by Jeremy Strong rather than Jesse Eisenberg, who portrayed the tech billionaire in The Social Network.
Meanwhile, Haugen is portrayed by Oscar-winner Mikey Madison, and Jeremy Allen-White plays the Wall Street Journal’s Horwitz.
In the trailer, Madison’s character explains to Horwitz, “I am here to help Facebook, not hurt it, OK,” which leads to the journalist becoming confused about why she chose to get in touch if that was her genuine aim.
The cast also boasts Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr.
