Jehnny Beth isn’t one to ever hideaway when showing off her talent and on the latest release ‘Flower’ from her upcoming debut solo album To Love Is To Live, there are no holds barred.
It’s an ethos she takes with her into most of her work either with music, on film or indeed in her writing. The fact that ‘Flower’s video is a cinematic wonder shouldn’t be so surprising.
With the directorial talent of Peaky Blinders‘ Anthony Byrne in tow, the story of ‘Flower’ is graphically and gorgeously told. The song was written about a pole dancer working in a notorious strip club named Jumbo’s Clown Room in LA.
The track goes on to explore the complex and confusing depths of social depravity all mixed in with an unrelenting sirenic quality. Now it’s been given the extra cinematic sheen of Byrne it makes for a thrill a minute watch.

That’s not it for Beth either. As well as a new single, a new Peaky Blinders directed-video, and a new album—Beth has also announced a brand new book.
While you may be expecting a dark tale of brooding pre-war gin and nuggets of perfect noir, the book, called Crimes Against Love Manifesto, AKA C.A.L.M, is in fact a collection of her erotic short stories. Complimented by the photography of longtime collaborator Johnny Hostile.
Crimes Against Love Manifesto lands on June 11th via White Rabbit.
