The singer, songwriter and all-round musical maestro, Jehnny Beth has shared the first new cut from her upcoming solo record To Love Is To Live which will arrive via Caroline Records on May 8th.
The album was recorded across the globe and sees Beth work with a number of impressive collaborators. From producers Flood and Atticus Ross to longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile as well as appearances from The xx’s Romy Madley Croft, actor Cillian Murphy, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot.
Today sees Beth release the first single from the new album, called ‘Flowers’ and sees the singer reach out into unchartered territory. It’s a song that has replaced direct aggression with a simmering sensuality that tells the tale of the track.
The song was written about a pole dancer working in a notorious strip club named Jumbo’s Clown Room in LA. The song goes on to explore the complex and confusing depths of social depravity all mixed in with an unrelenting sirenic quality.
