Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver set for ‘Tomb Raider’ adaptation
White Lotus star Jason Isaacs and Alien actor Sigourney Weaver are reportedly set to join the new Tomb Raider series.
As per Deadline, Isaacs has officially signed up, while Weaver is still in talks about the role. Amazon Prime has not officially confirmed which character each actor will be playing in the adaptation.
It has already been announced that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner will take the lead role of Lara Croft.
The famous video-game franchise follows the happenings of esteemed archaeologist and adventurer, Lara Croft. However, the specific plot for the TV series adaptation is being kept tightly under wraps, though it is sure to feature plenty of twists, turns, and gory fight scenes.
The series will be created, written, and executive-produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. News of the adaptation has been circling for some time, as it was first announced in 2022 and finally greenlit in May 2024. Production will begin in January.
Isaacs has a big 2026 ahead. After starring as the business mogul facing a reckoning for his shady past in The White Lotus, he will next star in projects like hostage thriller Eleven Days, Bleecker Street’s Victorian Psycho with Maika Monroe, and The Julia Set, a coming-of-age drama featuring Gillian Anderson and Chase Infiniti.
As for Weaver, she tried her hand at on-stage acting this year in Shakespeare’s The Tempest in London. Upcoming projects include the Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu, and the thriller Useful Idiots, which is also set to star Meryl Streep.
Tomb Raider originated with an action-adventure video game series created by the British game developer Core Design. It enjoyed a 2018 that saw Alicia Vikander take on the likeness of the lead adventurer, Croft. Walton Goggins, Isaacs White Lotus co-star, also starred.
