Helena Bonham Carter reportedly in early talks to star in ‘The White Lotus’ series four
Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly in early talks to star in the fourth series of the hit HBO comedy The White Lotus.
Deadline reports that discussions are underway between the actor’s representatives and the creators of The White Lotus, although HBO has declined to comment on the rumours as things stand.
If her role in the series were to be confirmed, it would make Bonham Carter the first major star to be cast in the upcoming series. Despite casting and plot details being kept tightly under wraps so far, it has been confirmed that the fourth series will be set in France.
The most recent third instalment was set in Thailand, with Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, and Carrie Coon all taking on roles in the massive ensemble cast.
The show most recently picked up a huge six nominations for the forthcoming Golden Globes, including for ‘Best Television Series – Drama’.
Nods in the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ categories for both males and females were gained by all of the previously mentioned members of the cast.
The success comes despite a turbulent behind-the-scenes process on The White Lotus series three, after rumours of a feud between lead stars Goggins and Wood had to be shut down.
Additionally, the show’s composer Cristóbal Tapia De Veer quit after an issue involving the director Mike White, which the latter branded as a “bitch move”.
For her own part, Bonham Carter has a number of upcoming projects across both the film and television worlds, as she is set to star in Enola Holmes 3 for Netflix.
She is also set to play the role of Lady Caterham in the streaming platform’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery, as well as the character of Eddie in the BBC One drama California Avenue.
Although HBO previously confirmed that casting is underway for The White Lotus series four, it has not commented on the potential talks with Bonham Carter. Filming could begin in spring 2026.
