Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite as ‘Freakier Friday’ production begins
Disney have shared the first look at the Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, which stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The movie, which is set to arrive more than two decades after the original movie, will arrive before the end of 2025 in cinemas worldwide. On March 14th, production finally began on Freakier Friday in Los Angeles, and Disney shared images of Lohan and Curtis together on the set.
The synopsis for Freakier Friday reads: “A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”
In addition to Lohan and Curtis reprising their roles, other returning cast members from the original film include Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan are among the new faces set to join the universe.
Curtis will also act as a producer for Freakier Friday alongside Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn. Meanwhile, Lohan is listed as an executive producer with Nathan Kelly and Ann Marie Sanderlin.
Talk of a sequel began in 2022 when Curtis said during an appearance on The View: “Let me be the grandma! Let me be the old grandma who switches places.”
“So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon,” she continued. “And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today’s world, as an old lady.”
