Jack White steps in after Twin Temple dropped from Charley Crockett tour due to “Satanic imagery”
Jack White has intervened to help Twin Temple after they said their use of “Satanic imagery” cost them supporting Charley Crockett on tour.
The American rock duo, who uniquely blend Satanism with doo-wop, were due to support the country star on July 14th in Troutdale, Oregon, as well as Paso Robles, California, on July 18th.
Earlier this week, they told fans that they’ve subsequently been removed from the two shows, which they claim was at Crockett’s request.
They told fans on Instagram, “Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to removie Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery”.
The duo added, “Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it meant as bringing different types of people and music lovers together.”
Twin Temple apologised to fans who were hoping to see them, before defiantly thanking those who support “artistic freedom”, and concluding their message by saying, “HAIL SATAN! 93/93.”
News of Twin Temple losing their support slot has now got back to White, who released his new album Frozen Charlotte today, and he’s offered them an opportunity to gig with him instead.
He wrote on Instagram, “Twin Temple, Would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium? Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!”
As of writing, Twin Temple have yet to publicly respond, but a quick glance at their schedule shows that they are available on September 29th to play the Hollywood Palladium…
The duo, comprising of Alexandra and Zachary James, have always worn their Satanism on their sleeve, and a cursory glance at their Spotify lists ‘Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy’, ‘Satan’s a Woman’, and ‘Lucifer, My Love’ as their three most-streamed tracks.
During an interview with Far Out in 2023, the band’s Alexandra James even said, “In the Satanic philosophy. We believe that everyone is a unique individual that hasn’t come before and will never come again.”
“There was no premeditated moment where we were like, ‘let’s invent a bizarre genre’,” James added of their Satanic doo-wop sound.
