Twin Temple claim they were dropped as Charley Crockett’s support due to their “Satanic imagery”

Twin Temple have claimed they were dropped as Charley Crockett’s tour support due to their use of “Satanic imagery”.

The American rock duo were due to support the country star on July 14th in Troutdale, Oregon, as well as Paso Robles, California, on July 18th.

However, taking to Instagram on July 8th, Twin Temple confirmed they would no longer be joining Crockett at those dates.

Their message began, “Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to removie Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery”.

The duo added, “Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it meant as bringing different types of people and music lovers together.”

Twin Temple continued, “We are sorry to everyone who was planning to see us. We’re grateful for your support, not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom.”

They concluded by leaning into Satanism, writing, “HAIL SATAN! 93/93.”

Twin Temple have never hidden away from their embrace of Satanism, which makes up part of their artistry and aesthetic.

During an interview with Far Out in 2023, the band’s Alexandra Jones said, “In the Satanic philosophy. We believe that everyone is a unique individual that hasn’t come before and will never come again.”

“There was no premeditated moment where we were like, ‘let’s invent a bizarre genre’,” Jones added of their Satanic doo-wop sound.

She also shared, “It was more just like we gave ourselves the freedom to pursue our true will and create something that gave us pleasure. And that means not censoring ourselves, not worrying about the reaction, and not making music for a specific audience other than ourselves.”

Far Out has reached out to a representative for Charley Crockett for comment.
