Jack White shares two new singles ahead of ‘Saturday Night Live’ return

Jack White has released two new singles ahead of his sixth appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

White has returned with tunes ‘Derecho Demonico’ and ‘G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs’, both available through his label, Third Man Records.

The records will also be on sale, physically, in Third Man shops in Nashville, Detroit, and London, and will be made available at other record stores worldwide next week.

The songs feature backing from White’s longtime live band, including drummer Patrick Keeler, bassist Dominic Davis, and keyboard player Bobby Emmet, and represent his first new music since 2024.

On ‘G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs’, the former White Stripes frontman sings, “Welcome to the Garden of Eden, there’s nobody here but me and you… so what we gonna be eating?” while punctuating his dystopian, apocalyptic statements with a raucous guitar.

On the other hand, ‘Derecho Demonico’ begins with a funkier rhythm and distorted vocals, as White sings, “Looks like you started something that you cannot finish.”

White will provide musical entertainment alongside School of Rock actor Jack Black, who will host the episode in support of his latest project, the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

These releases come just a week after the multi-disciplinary artist announced a European tour set to take place across May and June.

Additionally, on top of his musical commitments, White is set to debut his first-ever art exhibition, titled These Thoughts May Disappear, at London’s Newport Street Gallery this May.

In a glowing four-and-a-half-star review of his last record, 2024’s No Name, Far Out observed, “Jack White in a signature vein timelessly revitalises the medium of the blues with each stabbing chord—rendering it pretty damn close to the masterpiece the world needs right now.”

This year, White’s name has been in the headlines for other reasons. The star continues his tirade against President Donald Trump, having recently called out his military campaign in Iran. He deemed the President of the United States “a racist, a rapist, a felon, [and] a grifter”.
