Jack Osbourne discusses impact of Ozzy Osbourne’s death: “It’s still pretty fresh”
Jack Osbourne has opened up about his continuing grief after the death of his father, Ozzy Osbourne, four months ago, saying: “It’s still pretty fresh”.
The reality TV personality is currently appearing on the latest series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. In the most recent episode, he candidly discussed his grief with soap actor Lisa Riley.
“We knew he was sick for a while, but it was definitely a shock. It was like… we didn’t think it’d be that quick,” Osbourne explained.
He then went on to describe how Back to the Beginning, Black Sabbath’s final show which took place merely weeks before his father’s passing, was the “ultimate mic drop” as Ozzy “did a massive, big gig and then was like, ‘Alright, I’m done.’”
Regarding his choice to appear on the show so soon after the devastating event, Osbourne said he imagined his father would have some thoughts.
“He’s looking at me, being like, ‘What the [fuck] are you doing?’” he joked. “He’d be so supportive of this. The whole family was. They were like, ‘Absolutely, go do it.’”
Later, addressing the camera after the conversation with Riley, Osbourne honestly confessed that he is still “navigating” his grief, before adding, “It’s been three, nearly four months, so it’s still pretty fresh.”
Just prior to the youngest child heading into the jungle, the Osbourne family revealed some further unseen details about the decline of the Prince of Darkness’s health towards the end of his life, admitting he had been in hospital only two weeks before the final gig.
At the time, they also unveiled the true figure that was raised for the charities that Back to the Beginning was supporting, with a whopping $11 going towards Cure Parkinson’s, as well as local institutions Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
