Jack Black confirms whether he will return for ‘Jumanji 4’
Jack Black has revealed he’s set to return for Jumanji 4 which he’s confirmed is currently in development.
Black, whose new film A Minecraft Movie is set to be released in cinemas on April 4th, has appeared in the previous two Jumanji movies as Professor Sheldon Oberon, 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Next Level and 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level. The sequels also star Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart.
During an appearance on Today on April 1st, Black provided a promising update during a quickfire round of questions with host Craig Melvin, who probed the comedic actor on whether follow-ups were in the works for a variety of his most beloved movies.
While Black admitted it’s “not likely” that another School of Rock film will happen, he said of a new Jumanji movie: “It’s in the works”. Although he didn’t provide much more detail, he also stated that he believes there’s a “high” chance it gets made. Black added: “Spoiler alert, I’m in it.”
Just a few days before his appearance on Today, Black was much more coy about the subject of a new Jumanji movie while talking to Deadline, commenting, “Well, we’ll see. I hope so.”
The Tenacious D frontman also shared when asked if filming had already begun on the project, “No. No. I don’t believe that. I’ll believe that when I get to set.”
Meanwhile, at the premiere of A Minecraft Movie in London, Black said his new film is the perfect tonic away from the current political landscape: “What the world needs now is love, sweet love. We’ve got to work together, my God. There’s so much violence and war and hatred. And that’s what I love about this movie — there’s a lot of love in it and there’s a lot of creativity. There is some anger and violence too, but in the end it’s about friendship and working together to make [the world] a better place.”
