Information released ahead of Fontaines DC’s huge Finsbury Park headliner
After unprecedented success with their 2024 album Romance, Fontaines DC are headlining a huge show in London’s Finsbury Park, alongside Amyl and the Sniffers, Kneecap, Blondshell and other musical comrades. Here’s everything you need to know.
The show at the London park marks the apex of a busy summer for the band, who have travelled across Europe to play for hundreds of thousands of post-punk fans. They played a riotous set at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound. More recently, the band welcomed a pro-Palestine activist group to the stage to conduct chants in both English and Arabic at their show at Roskilde Festival.
Now, Fontaines DC will return to the UK to headline a sold-out day festival marketed in their name. Fans can enter the festival from 1.30pm onwards, while Fontaines will take to the stage at 8.20pm.
The festival will kick off with Cardinals, performing at 1.55pm. American band Been Stellar will follow afterwards, at 2.45pm, while Blondshell returns to London after the release of her second album If You Asked for a Picture for a 3.55pm slot.
Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap will perform at 5.10pm for a set that will surely garner much scrutiny amid their ongoing terror charge. A little later, Amyl and the Sniffers will provide the final set at 6.40pm.
The music will not stop, as DJs will spin tunes between each set. The DJs, Rob Smith & Tony Bones (Workmans Dublin), Steve Lamacq, Robbie Brady (Garage Bar RIP) and So Young, will ensure the vibes are constantly flowing.
Additionally, Finsbury Park’s policies are similar to those of many standard event spaces; attendees can only bring bags larger than A4, although those with accessibility passes are allowed to bring a larger bag.
On the same day, London is holding Pride celebrations across the city. Though there are several local bus routes that run past the park, as well as two close underground stations, journey delays are expected due to the volume of people in the capital.
