IDLES have shared another thrilling video, this time with the visuals for their song ‘Reigns’. The track is the latest single to be taken from their triumphant chart-topping record Ultra Mono, released back in September 2020.
The Bristolians have previously announced grand plans to take the record on tour throughout 2021 for their most significant set of dates yet. However, when these dates will go ahead still look uncertain and are pandemic depending.
The vast run of shows includes three nights at Glasgow’s Barrowlands, three nights at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse, a stop at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena before finishing off the run of dates in celebratory fashion with a four-night residency at London’s famous Brixton Academy.
The band will be joined on the run by the excellent supporting cast of Jehnny Beth, Anna Calvi, Cate le Bon, Sinead O’Brien, Big Joanie, Witch Fever, Shopping and wych elm.
The sinister yet captivating Theo Watkins directed video for ‘Reigns’ takes a twisted look at human behaviour. At the beginning of the video, the scenes visualise a picture reminiscent of any home in Britain every evening right now, as families and couples sit down to watch television.
Things suddenly get strange when it manifests that these viewers are watching vicious tigers attacking and killing wildebeests. Rather than being shocked by what they are watching, the brutal scenes are met with celebration and joy from the spectators watching at home akin to if their football team had just scored a match-winning goal in a cup final.
