IDLES get animated on 'Kill Them With Kindness' video

IDLES have got animated on their superb new video for ‘Kill Them With Kindness’. The track features on their triumphant chart-topping record Ultra Mono, which was released in September.

The Bristolians have previously announced grand plans to take the record on tour throughout 2021 for their biggest set of dates yet. The run of shows includes three nights at Glasgow’s Barrowlands, three nights at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse, a stop at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena before finishing off the run of dates in celebratory fashion with a four-night residency at London’s famous Brixton Academy.

The band are set to be joined on the run by the excellent supporting cast of Jehnny Beth, Anna Calvi, Cate le Bon, Sinead O’Brien, Big Joanie, Witch Fever, Shopping and wych elm.

‘Kill Them With Kindness’ is the latest in a long line of singles that have been lifted from the record and the video might be their best yet. The masterminds behind the animated video for ‘Kill Them Kindness‘ was James Carbutt and Pip Williamson, Carbutt directed and designed the video whereas Williamson animated it.

Speaking about the clip, animator and director Pip Williamson explains: “The dingy pub setting in the film is based on the Working Men’s Clubs of my hometown (Barnsley). It was nice to imagine IDLES bursting in and spreading a message of love. During our research we discovered that no two Wetherspoons carpets are the same, they are all unique like snowflakes, so yeah making this film was a wild ride.”
