IDLES have announced the best news we’ve heard all lockdown as they reveal details of their third album Ultra Mono and share new single ‘Grounds’.
The Bristolians new record will be with us on September 25th, which has the challenge of topping their incredible 2018 release Joy As An Act Of Resistance.
The record was recorded in Paris and features special guests such as Jehnny Beth, Warren Ellis from The Bad Seeds as well as a somewhat surprising appearance from pianist Jamie Cullum who also appears on the album.
As they tease the new record, the band have shared a taste of Ultra Mono in the form of the Kenny Beats produced ‘Grounds’, which frontman Joe Talbot has this to say on: “We wanted to write a song that embodied self-belief, and gave us self-belief – a counter-punch to all the doubt we build up from all the noise we so easily let in.”
Adding: “We wanted to make the sound of our own hearts’ marching band, armed with a jackhammer and a smile. We wanted to make the sound of our engine starting. So we did. Thank you.”
IDLES will also be performing three exclusive live-streamed shows across the August bank holiday weekend and tickets for the shows are on sale now, with each purchase receiving a unique code in order to access the performance.
