HBO shares first look at new seasons of ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘White Lotus’
A new teaser from HBO provides a glimpse at some of the new shows arriving on Max for the remainder of the year and into 2025. The clip includes the first looks at the new seasons of The White Lotus and The Last of Us.
Since the anthology series premiered in 2021, The White Lotus has become one of HBO’s most well-loved shows. Each season follows a new hotel in a new location, each one a part of the ‘White Lotus’ franchise, and a new star-studded cast.
The show’s previous ensemble casts have featured Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney and Aubrey Plaza, while locations have included Maui in Hawaii and Sicily in Europe. The upcoming third instalment of the comedy-drama will star another list of huge names, including Carrie Coon, Jason Isaacs, and Walton Goggins, who are set to visit the White Lotus’ Thailand branch.
Now, HBO has provided a first look at the new season. “What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand,” says one character, over shots of tranquil pools and boxing matches. The season promises more shocking drama and ridiculous comedy. It is set to arrive on HBO in 2025.
The trailer also provides a first look at the highly anticipated new season of The Last of Us. The video game adaptation first hit HBO in early 2023. Two years later, the show is finally approaching the release of its second season.
Pedro Pascal, who stars as Joel, and Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, are both set to reprise their roles in the series, while Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann return as showrunners. New additions to the cast include Kaitlyn Dever and Catherine O’Hara.
The Max trailer concludes with a short look at the new season, showing off some impressive action shots and snowy landscapes. “Did you hurt her?” one character asks Pascal’s Joel. “No,” he responds, before clarifying, “I saved her.” The second series will premiere on HBO next year.
Alongside the highly anticipated new seasons of The White Lotus and The Last of Us, the HBO Max schedule is stacked with a number of other exciting releases.
The trailer also provides a glimpse at the upcoming TV adaptation of The Penguin, starring Colin Farrel, and sci-fi prequel series Dune: Prophecy. New seasons of British drama Industry, beloved comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls and Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That… are also set to arrive on the streaming service.
