Full cast announced for third series of ‘The White Lotus’
The full cast has been announced for season three of the hit series The White Lotus, which is set to star Leslie Bibb and Jason Isaacs.
Bibb and Isaacs were among the previously announced cast members alongside Dom Hetrakul, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Tayme Thapthimthong. In addition to Miloš Biković, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, and Shalini Peiris.
Now, the HBO series have added five more names. Walton Goggins and Sarah Catherine Hook have signed on, along with Sam Nivola, who recently starred in Maestro.
Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, has also joined the cast, as well as Sex Education breakout star Aimee Lou Wood.
As far as returning characters go, Natasha Rothwell will be back to reprise her season one role of Belinda Lindsey. However, it has been confirmed by Jennifer Coolidge, despite winning an Emmy for her role as Tayna, the character is “definitely dead”.
In her acceptance speech for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series’ category, Coolidge referenced ho her character was targeted in the show by a group of scheming queer people in Sicily who wanted her money, stating: “I want to thank all the evil gays.”
The actor added: “I had a little dream in my little town, and everyone said it wasn’t practical and it was far-fetched. It did happen, after all, so don’t give up on your dream.”
While details of the plot for the upcoming series are being kept as a tight secret, production is set to begin in Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok in Thailand in February. After last season’s Sicilian setting and the Maui destination of season one, the third season is taking the programme to Asia.
The show has been a huge hit for HBO since the start. The first season received 20 Emmy nominations and ten wins, while the second saw the same success with 23 nominations and five wins. However, their Emmy storm this year was blocked by Succession’s award sweep.
Last year, director Mike White said of the upcoming third season: “It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus. It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing … I’m super excited about the content of the season.”
As of yet, it remains unknown when the third series of The White Lotus is likely to arrive on television screens.
