Hayley Williams confirms Paramore have not broken up: “We always take huge breaks”
Paramore singer Hayley Williams has confirmed her band has not broken up in light of her recently dropped solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.
Williams has been in the headlines recently after she dropped 17 singles, without warning, via an encoded website that anyone with access to Reddit could listen to for free. Since then, she has released an 18-song solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, her very first project after breaking out of a major label deal that lasted two decades.
Speaking to The Face about her new record, which Far Out branded “an incredible hour-long project overflowing with unique lyricism and boundless energy,” she opened up about Paramore. When asked whether the band had broken up, the ‘All I Wanted’ singer confirmed that they were still together, in some capacity.
“Do we ever know where we’re at?” she laughed first, before adding, “We always take huge breaks. In order for us to metabolise shit that we go through as people, it takes the amount of time it takes between albums.”
Therefore, the band is currently on a break, but they are not broken up. She commented, “There are no better musicians in the world than Zac and Taylor. There are no better performers than [the touring musicians affectionately known as the] Parafour. It’s just magic, man.”
The Nashville-native continued, “I feel such a vindication in knowing that nobody can discount Paramore. But it’s also really important for me to strengthen other muscles and these parts of myself that I deflated because I was scared that people were going to notice me too much.”
This happy news for Paramore fans comes alongside the notice that Williams is currently planning a solo tour. She revealed that her team is attempting to figure out how a new tour could be affordable for fans.
Williams’ third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelerette Party, is out on all streaming platforms now. She has also hinted that there may be another track or two to be released before the project is fully completed.
