HAIM have once again collaborated with critically acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson and released their brand new music video for ‘Man From the Magazine’.
In the video, singer Danielle Haim is back in familiar surroundings if visuals from the band’s long-awaited third album Women in Music. Pt III is anything to go by. This time though, the singer is working behind Los Angeles’ famous Canter’s Deli while singing a stripped back version of the song.
“Paul came up with the idea after hearing the whole record and we both felt strongly that this song, in particular, needed a visual,” HAIM said in a statement, “so Danielle put on a mic and sang it live in the middle of the deli.”
The new video marks yet another effort between the band and Anderson who, up until now, has worked on a number of different videos for the girl group. In fact, his artistic relationship with HAIM has taken yet another major step forward after it was announced that Alana Haim, the guitarist if the band, will make her first foray into the world of cinema and will co-star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new 1970s drama.
The coming-of-age story, which is set in the San Fernando Valley, will also feature Bradley Cooper and Bennie Safdie. Adding more major named to the bustling cast, the Hollywood Reporter has also revealed that Cooper Hoffman, the son of Oscar-winning actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman, will star alongside Alana Haim in the film.
Anderson, best known for his acclaimed feature films such as Boogie Nights, The Master, Phantom Thread and more, is said to have written the upcoming new film and will also take on producing and directing duties through his Ghoulardi Film Company.
For now though, enjoy the visuals for the latest musical effort.
