Haim announce comeback single ‘Relationships’

Haim have announced their comeback single ‘Relationships’ by sharing the artwork for the upcoming release.

The artwork shows all three Haim sisters standing outside in the sun, looking relatively carefree, in what appears to be a nod to Nicole Kidman’s famous 2001 photos. The infamous images show the actress leaving her lawyer’s office after signing papers to divorce her then-husband Tom Cruise.

The new single follows a series of hints on Haim’s Instagram page, starting with a post from Danielle’s 36th birthday party, where the caption read: “(ha)i’m single.. haim single?”.

Then last week, the band shared another video clip of them in a bathroom dancing to an unreleased song, which included the lyrics: “I hear a voice in my head and it keeps asking why am I in this relationship / Baby how can I explain when an innocent mistake turns into 17 days / Fucking relationships”.

Now, the band have officially confirmed the release with a post of the single’s artwork and a caption that read: “‘Relationships’ – Our next single. You want it?? Pre-save it,”. However, no official release date was provided with the post.

The single will be their first release since their 2023 single, ‘Home’, which featured on the Barbie soundtrack and was also released the same year they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Days Are Gone.

This single will most likely be part of a campaign for their fourth album, which follows their critically acclaimed third albumWomen In Music Part III, from 2021. The band seemingly confirmed the beginning of their fourth album by posting a video clip on TikTok that featured Este and Danielle dragging their sister Alana through a door as she struggles to make an escape.

The caption reads: “When your sisters are making you get back in the studio but you were born to be an Oscar award-winning actress”, referring to Alana’s award-winning role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest feature Licorice Pizza, which was released in 2021.
