H.E.R. shares cover of Foo Fighters track ‘The Glass’
Singer-songwriter H.E.R. has released a beautiful rendition of the Foo Fighters track ‘The Glass’, which appeared on their latest album But Here We Are.
The R&B singer recently joined forces with the Foo Fighters for a joint rendition of the song during the band’s recent appearance on Saturday Night Live. After the positive reaction to the collaboration, it was revealed earlier this week that H.E.R. would release a separate solo version of the track.
On the show, the two sang together on the chorus, uttering the gorgeous words, “There is something between us, between me and you”, before H.E.R. masterfully took on the second verse.
Frontman Grohl also appeared in two sketches on the show, ‘Lake Beach’ and ‘Airplane’, alongside the SNL cast.
H.E.R.’s version of ‘The Glass’ serves as one side of a double A-side, accompanied by the original version of ‘The Glass’ from the Foo Fighters’ 11th and latest album, But Here We Are.
Foo Fighters took to social media to thank H.E.R. for “this stunning take on ‘The Glass'”, adding that they were “honoured”.
This follows a number of successful covers H.E.R. has performed, including Elton John’s ‘Benny and The Jets’, which she performed at the iHeartRadioMusic Awards in 2021. She has also previously covered Chris Stapleton, Aretha Franklin, Drake, and Jade Novah.
In a four-star review of But Here We Are, Far Out wrote: “A record that should garner respect later as the band comb through their back pages to celebrate their own story of survival. It might hurt to be dealt this kind of blow, but it takes the strong to get back up, and Foo Fighters have come out on the other side stronger for it.”
The seven-inch vinyl edition of ‘The Glass’ is set to be released on December 29th, listen to the cover below.
