Guy Pearce apologises for sharing “misinformation and falsehoods” about Israel

Guy Pearce has issued a public apology for spreading “misinformation and falsehoods” about Israel online in his support for Palestine.

As per Variety, the star spoke to Jewish News, to whom he issued a public apology for his social media posts.

His apology began, “It has been brought to my attention that, in my support of Palestine, I have inadvertently re-posted articles, and/or statements, that have contained misinformation and falsehoods.”

Pearce continued, “I am aware how sharing inaccurate content can cause confusion and distress; for this I am deeply sorry. I will certainly endeavour to be more diligent in future to verify anything I share online.”

Reportedly, The Brutalist star shared online posts featuring far-right political commentator and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. He also shared material that blamed Israel for 9/11, as well as material that blamed Israel for the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Allegedly, a post he shared also claimed that the “top three pornography companies are owned by Jewish people.”

Jewish News also reported that, earlier this month, the actor shared an online post that read, “Remember, when Zionists tell you Islam will destroy America… While several major Las Vegas casinos/hotels that have caused gambling addictions, debt and prostitution were created and owned by Jewish Zionists… The Zionists (not Jews) want you to fear the people who stand against the corruption they are creating.”

Now, the star has decided to step back from the online discourse entirely. In a new post shared on X, he wrote, “Earlier this week, I issued an apology for sharing misleading and inaccurate posts and commentary on social media.”

He added, “I meant every word of that apology but I recognize that meaningful action must accompany any apology. To prevent any further hurt, confusion or damage to others, I will be stepping back from social media for the time being.”
