‘Gremlins 3’ confirmed for 2027 release
Warner Bros have confirmed Gremlins 3 will arrive in 2027.
The news was confirmed by David Zaslav, the CEO and president of Warner Bros Discovery, on a call with investors on November 6th.
The upcoming movie will be directed by Chris Columbus, who previously helmed the original Gremlins in 1980. He has also created movies in the Harry Potter franchise, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, The Thursday Murder Club, and Pixels.
Legendary director Steven Spielberg, who executively produced the first two films in the Gremlins series, will also return to the role for the third movie.
Gremlins 3 is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 19th, 2027.
In July, Zach Galligan, who starred in the original movies, revealed at Comic-Con Manchester that Gremlins 3 was on the way, sharing with fans, “After 35 years, they’ve come up with a script.”
Galligan added, “Warner Bros is incredibly interested in doing it, apparently it’s waiting on Mr. Spielberg to read it and approve it. But you can thank the success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
Per Variety, Zaslav also said on the investors call about Warners Bros’ successful year so far: “We’re leading the 2025 box office domestically. We’re leading it internationally, and we’re leading it globally. Not only are we in first place, but we’re the only film studio to have crossed $4 billion in 2025 box office revenue thus far, and we’ve done it with a significant amount of original stories that leadership was on full display in the third quarter.”
He also shared, “We showed our exceptional horror genre expertise yet again with Weapons and The Conjuring: Last Rites, which have together grossed more than $750 million in ticket sales. And we reinforced our commitment to producing great original works by great filmmakers, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.”
