Grammys set to move to Disney+ for 2025
Big changes are coming for the Grammys, as the prestigious music awards show has confirmed future ceremonies will be broadcast on outlets owned by Disney. These include ABC, Disney+, and Hulu. The deal has been agreed for ten years, taking the award show away from CBS, which has been showing the ceremony for over 50 years.
Disney and the prestigious award ceremony have confirmed that they are incredibly excited about the new partnership. It stands as another bold move that Disney has made in the past few years as it steps up its domination in the television realm.
“As the Walt Disney Company combines forces with the Recording Academy to open this exciting new chapter in the history of the Grammys, we do so with pride and gratitude,” said Dana Walden, the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, in a new press release.
“Live events have never been more important to our culture and industry, and we just acquired one of the crown jewels, adding to our portfolio of world-class programming across all genres,” Walden added.
The Grammys confirmed that they are equally excited about the partnership. In a statement, they said they were looking forward to this new chapter for the Grammys and the possibilities it might bring for the awards show.
“We are grateful to our long-standing partners at CBS and now honoured to be joining with Disney, an iconic company where creators have always been at the forefront,” said Harvey Mason Jr, the CEO of the Recording Academy, “This partnership represents another important milestone in the Academy’s transformation and growth, and strengthens our ability to fulfil our mission of uplifting and serving music people around the world.”
