Grammys 2024: Trevor Noah announced as host of ceremony

Comedian Trevor Noah has been confirmed to host the 2024 edition of the Grammys. The upcoming ceremony will mark the fourth consecutive year that he will be in charge of presenting the prestigious event.

Noah made the announcement on his podcast. He told listeners, “I think it’s also important to acknowledge something, I’m hosting the Grammy’s. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.”

A variety of artists have received multiple nominations for this year’s awards, with SZA heading up the pack with nine nominations for her album SOS. Victoria Monét and Phoebe Bridgers are slightly behind, both of whom have seven nominations. The Barbie Soundtrack is also likely set to dominate after securing 12 nominations.

Other notable nominees who may also potentially perform at the ceremony include Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift.

Furthermore, there is potential for history to be made. If Taylor Swift wins ‘Best Album’ with Midnights, she will become the artist with the most ‘Album of the Year’ wins and take her tally to four.

Noah will be in charge of making sure that the 66th annual Grammy Awards runs as smoothly as possible in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena on February 4th, 2024. The event will be able to watch live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

For the first time, the Grammys will include the new categories ‘Best African Music Performance’, ‘Best Alternative Jazz Album’, and ‘Best Pop Dance Recording’. Harvey Mason Jr, CEO of the Recording Academy, previously explained in a statement: “These changes reflect our commitment to actively listen and respond to the feedback from our music community, accurately represent a diverse range of relevant musical genres, and stay aligned with the ever-evolving musical landscape.”
