Grammys 2024: Everything you need to know about the event
The Grammy Awards is arguably the most prestigious ceremony in music. Whether they admit it or not, that small golden gramophone lies at the back of many artists’ heads the minute they start creating. Despite the awards receiving criticism over the years over representation and a lack of understanding of what their categories mean, they still always provide an exciting night of entertainment.
The awards are presented by the Recording Academy of the United States in a bid to recognise outstanding achievements in music. They present awards for all manner of accomplishments, including best single, best album, best artist and best music video. The first Grammy ceremony was held on May 4th, 1959, and it has since been held annually to recognise the excellent music released over the year.
The most prominent artists in the world receive recognition at the Grammys. Beyoncé has won the most awards throughout their history, with a total of 32 Awards. U2 are the group with the most Grammy Awards, having racked up 22 throughout their career.
Some of the most recent Grammy winners include the likes of global superstars Harry Styles and Lizzo. Harry’s House received the 2023 Award for ‘Album Of The Year,’ and Lizzo’s viral sensation ‘About Damn Time’ was recognised as the ‘Song Of The Year.’

How do you become eligible for a Grammy 2024 nomination?
Per the Grammys website, an artist becomes eligible for nomination during a specific time period. For the Grammys 2024, nominees must adhere to the eligibility period from October 1st, 2022, through September 15th, 2023, meaning all eligible awards entries must be released within this timeframe.
Recordings eligible for consideration must also have a commercial release in the United States. Annually, the Grammy Award is determined through voting by the Recording Academy’s membership, comprising music creators such as artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers. Registered companies are not authorised to participate in the Grammy Awards Process.
Who is likely to win at the Grammys 2024?
Although many of the nominated acts possess a lot of talent and have respective dedicated fanbases, early predictions suggest it’s likely to be Taylor Swift who takes home the award for ‘Album of the Year’ for her album Midnights.
Although Swift has also been included in the category for ‘Record of the Year’, it’s Miley Cyrus who is expected to win with her popular single ‘Flowers’, which was released in January 2023. Swift has maintained her position as the clear frontrunner for the award season, with multiple nominations and wins for her tenth studio album, which also saw her singer achieve ‘Artist of the Year’ at the MTV Video Music Awards.
