Golden Globes 2026: Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker win lifetime achievement awards
Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker received honorary Golden Globes at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
The Golden Eve event, which took place on January 6th and was broadcast on CBS on January 8th, saw both actors win lifetime achievement awards, celebrating their respective careers.
Mirren was honoured with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Parker was awarded the 2026 Carol Burnett Award.
The English actor was celebrated by Harrison Ford, who recalled first working with Mirren in 1986 on The Mosquito Coast, and sharing his joy at their reunion four decades later in the hit series, 1923, telling the crowd, “The script required all of us refer to Helen as ‘Mother.’ Forty years later, I got to work with her again when Taylor Sheridan cast her in 1923. I was an afterthought.”
Meanwhile, Colman Domingo honoured Parker and likened her to Burnett, saying, “Like the great Carol Burnett, she gives us permission to ask big questions about love, work, friendship and time. And she does it all with humour, elegance, nerve and grace.”
Additionally, her Sex and the City co-star Kristen Davis also paid homage to Parker, saying of her friend, “My dearest Sarah, it is a joy to be with you in this life, and to be here tonight to honor you in the name of the incredible Carol Burnett is just a dream come true.”
Burnett herself made an appearance at the event, as did Tessa Thompson, Vin Diesel and Viola Davis. Parker was given the award by her husband, Matthew Broderick.
The Golden Globes is set to take place in Los Angeles on January 11th, with comedian Nikki Glaser set to host for the second consecutive year.
Overall, the big frontrunner in the film categories is One Battle After Another, which leads the pack with a massive nine nominations, including for ‘Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy’ and ‘Best Leading Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy’ for Leonardo DiCaprio.
