Golden Globes 2026: ‘Best Podcast’ category confirmed

The Golden Globes have announced a new ‘Best Podcast’ category, which will be awarded for the first time at the 2026 ceremony.

Details surrounding eligible podcasts are yet to be fully revealed. However, the Golden Globes have said the top 25 podcasts will be considered for the award, presumably based on listening figures and popularity, ahead of six receiving nominations. Eligibility rules will be formally announced in the next few weeks.

The Golden Globes’ latest move shows how they are progressing to reflect the modern nature of media consumption. In recent years, they have also introduced categories for ‘Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement—Motion Pictures’ and ‘Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance—TV’.

Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne said in a statement, “As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are excited to recognize new forms of storytelling.”

Hoehne continued: “Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations. By celebrating achievements in both audio and visual podcasts, we aim to honor our heritage categories while making room for new voices and formats to be heard.”

In March, comedian Nikki Glaser was confirmed to return as the host after making history in January by becoming the first woman to host the prestigious ceremony.

In a statement, Glaser shared: “Hosting the Golden Globes this year was without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career. I can’t wait to do it again, and this time in front of the team from The White Lotus who will finally recognize my talent and cast me in Season 4 as a Scandinavian Pilates instructor with a shadowy past.”

The next edition of the Golden Globes is set to take place on January 11th, 2026.
