GoFundMe launched by family of Oasis fan who died at Wembley Stadium

The brother of Lee Claydon, the Oasis fan who tragically died at Wembley Stadium on August 2nd, has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for his late brother’s immediate family.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed Claydon’s death on August 3rd in a statement, which reads, “A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

It was reported he fell from the upper tier of Wembley Stadium and was sadly pronounced dead by medics at the scene. Police have implored anyone with relevant information to call 101.

Oasis later paid tribute to Claydon, writing, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

His family have now honoured him on social media and shared links to the GoFundMe. Claydon has also been revealed to be a father of one from Bournemouth.

The GoFundMe page, set up in his memory, reads: “Hi everyone, my name is Aaron Claydon and I have set up this GoFundMe page for Amanda, Harry, Matthew and James who have very sadly and tragically lost their Dad, partner and also my brother Lee, the man I have always looked up to.”

Aaron said, “Our family has been turned upside down and are struggling to deal with this devastation and unexpected loss”, and described his brother as “a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family.”

Explaining his reasoning for setting up the page, Aaron wrote: “Amanda and the boys have our full support at this very sad time which is why we would love to be able to help them financially as well as emotionally.”

He concluded: “Please help us raise as much funds as we can to take one worry off Amanda and family right now as they are going through any family’s worst nightmare.”

As of writing, donations to the GoFundMe are over £2,500, and readers wishing to donate can do so here.
