Glastonbury 2025: Watch Gracie Abrams cover The Cure’s classic ‘Just Like Heaven’

Gracie Abrams performed an indie classic in the form of The Cure‘s gorgeous hit ‘Just Like Heaven’ as she took to the Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Prior to regaling the iconic track, the Los Angeles performer described it as a song that she wished she had written. She did one of the “favourite” songs justice with a dream-pop tinged take on the 1987 hit.

She followed a varied line-up. Earlier in the day, Wet Leg set the stage alight with their mix of punk sincerity and sultry indie-rock. Following their set, Franz Ferdinand brought back the 2000s house party for a crowd who exploded over ‘Take Me Out’ with Peter Capaldi.

Her more mellowed sound suited the dusky mood as people took a much-needed breather under the hot sun, before catching a second wind for today’s Pyramid Stage headliners, The 1975. With sultry stylings, Abrams attracted a huge crowd and seemingly a wave of online adulation, too.

However, few tracks captured the attention quite as profoundly as the dreamy Cure classic. When Robert Smith was writing the song with the seaside in mind, he famously turned to his bandmates and commented, “I’ll never write something this good again.”

He would later comment, “Although I didn’t realise it at the time, the structure is very similar to ‘Another Girl, Another Planet,’ by The Only Ones, which I can still vividly remember hearing on the radio late at night in the mid-’70s. The main difference is that as the song progressed, I introduced some different chord changes, which give it that slightly melancholic feeling.”

Abrams gave it her trademark soft touch as she performed in front of thousands in a floating red dress. The rest of her set was filled with career-spanning pop hits.

Later this evening, indie-pop legends The 1975 will headline the Pyramid Stage, performing their only show of 2025. Loyle Carner will headline The Other Stage. Across the weekend, Charli XCX, Neil Young, CMAT and Pinkpantheress will perform, alongside hundreds of other names and some mysterious secret sets.
