Glastonbury 2025: The 1975 confirm it will be their only show of the year

The 1975‘s manager, Jamie Oborne, has confirmed that their headline performance at Glastonbury Festival will be their only show of 2025.

In June, The 1975 will headline the Friday night on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm, marking their first time topping the bill at Britain’s most prestigious festival. It will be their first performance since their Still.. At Their Very Best world tour wrapped up in Amsterdam in March 2024. Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo will also headline the Pyramid Stage.

“It’s such a big gig, and it’s the only show that we’re playing this year,” Oborne shared on The Money Trench Podcast (per NME) before adding that frontman Matty Healy “thought doing it in isolation would be a really powerful thing. I obviously agreed with him, as I often do.”

Providing an update on new material, Oborne added: “They’re making a record at the moment. I don’t know when it will come out, but they’re making one.” From what he’s heard, Oborne described it as “pretty extraordinary”.

“I think they’ve earned the right to take their time,” the manager said on a potential timeframe for the upcoming album, adding, “The world’s gonna be listening, so it needs to be right.”

In the same interview, Oborne revealed he is suing the promoters of Malaysia’s Good Vibes Festival. It comes after a High Court judge ruled in February that the band cannot be held responsible for the financial losses experienced by the event. During their headline set, they protested against the country’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws, which resulted in the festival being abandoned and a legal battle.

Oborne shared: “It was a very stressful time. I’m actually now suing the Malaysian promoter in Malaysia, but the press only really reported the salacious side of it, not what subsequently has been found by a High Court judge, that actually, the Malaysian promoter broke contract, and that’s why we have contracts.”

He also ruled out a potential return to the country in the future for The 1975, stating, “There’s such a catalogue of human rights infringements in Malaysia that I don’t think there’s an amount of money that you could pay Matty for him to want to go there.”

Glastonbury Festival is set to take place between June 27th and June 29th with The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo headlining.
