Glastonbury 2025: Lewis Capaldi’s new single ‘Survive’ appears to confirm huge Pyramid Stage set
Lewis Capaldi has returned with a new song, ‘Survive’, confirming that he will perform a secret set on June 27th, Glastonbury Festival’s Pyramid Stage.
The 28-year-old last performed at Glastonbury in 2023 on the Pyramid Stage, before taking a break due to mental health issues and anxiety, which he announced on New Year’s Eve the same year. It seems fitting that he kick-starts his career at the same place where it halted last.
Capaldi’s accompanying music video shows him sitting on a chair and playing the guitar before soft lighting glowing through the curtains behind him. Clips of Capaldi’s career so far, such as huge audiences swaying holding their phone torches in the air, and Capaldi prepping backstage, are spliced throughout.
On the new track, Capaldi sings, “Most nights I fear that I’m not enough, I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up,” in the heartbreaking verses, which detail despair and depression. In the huge choruses, however, he is willing to fight to carry on, singing, “I swear to God I’ll survive, if it kills me to, I’m gonna’ get up and try, if it’s the last thing I’ll do.”
The artist has seemingly confirmed his set at 16:45pm on the Pyramid Stage with the new lyrics, as they were included in clues for the secret set. The first sign was seen as campers began arriving at Worthy Farm on June 24th, near the Castle Cary train station, close to the site, emblazoned with the words: “I’ve had my fair share of Monday mornings where I can’t get up.”
Hundreds of miles north in the Scottish city, a second clue was displayed on an electronic billboard in the same style and font, which said: “I refuse to spend my best years rotting in the sun.”
Under the messages on both signs was a phone number that fans could text to receive updates, confirming that the billboards were indeed from the artist listed on the line-up as ‘TBA’. Capaldi’s ‘Survive’ contains both lyrics, all but confirming a huge day ahead for the artist.
