Glastonbury 2025: Inhaler dedicate song to Palestine, decry “genocide”

Dublin band Inhaler deliver a soaring set at The Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival, during which they dedicate a song to the people of Palestine.

During their performance on The Other Stage, Inhaler frontman Eli Hewson used the set to take a poignant stand with Palestine. He declared, “I’d like to dedicate this next song to the people of Palestine, to any innocent people being starved or bombed, or genocide for the sake of some lunatics.”

Hewson, whose father is U2 frontman Bono, continued: “I feel like we have to say that because our greatest strength is freedom of expression, and there’s no better place for it than right here at Glastonbury. So, be kind to each other, and have a great time.”

Inhaler then performed a triumphant rendition of the heartfelt ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’, which was an appropriate message of hope following Hewson’s speech.

The set was newsworthy for other reasons, too. Watching from the side of the stage was none other than Beatles legend Paul McCartney. The legendary musician has previously performed with Neil Young; another duet from the pair is beginning to look like a feasible possibility.

Elsewhere at the festival, country-pop queen CMAT led a “Free Free Palestine” chant as she left the stage following a euphoric set on the Pyramid Stage. Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap are expected to perform an explicitly political set amid terror charges against member Mo Chara for shouting “up Hamas, up Hezbollah” at a 2024 show.

There are still hundreds more acts to come. Far Out are live on the ground giving you all the latest updates. The evening will see The 1975 headline The Pyramid Stage, and Loyle Carner headline The Other Stage. Other Friday performers include Wet Leg, Lola Young, and Alanis Morissette.
