Glastonbury 2024: Watch Kasabian honour Fatboy Slim during ‘L.S.F.’

On June 29th, Kasabian made a thrilling return to Glastonbury Festival appearing as a surprise act on the Woodsies Stage, and paid homage to Fatboy Slim when playing ‘LSF’.

The set, which began in electric fashion with ‘Club Foot’, saw Kasabian rise to the occasion and remind everyone in attendance why they remain one of the most successful guitar bands in Britain. While they played a selection of new material, such as recent singles ‘Call’ and ‘Coming Back To Me Good’, their early hits saw the crowd reach a whole different level of euphoria.

Notably, the band have a storied history with Glastonbury. Having made their debut in 2004, they climbed up the ladder and played a number of stages before eventually graduating to headline the Pyramid Stage in 2014.

A decade later, they have finally made their long-awaited return to Worthy Farm ahead of the release of their new album, Happenings, on July 5th. The band are firmly in a new chapter of their career following the exit of singer Tom Meighan in 2020, but with Serge Pizzorno leading Kasabian, they seem as energised as ever.

Although the line-up has changed slightly with The Music frontman Rob Harvey replacing Pizzorno on guitar and backing vocals, the band’s chief songwriter paraded the stage like he’d been a frontman for Kasabian’s entire existence.

There were various high points during the band’s energetic hour-long set at Woodsies, such as closing track ‘Fire’, but a unique version of ‘L.S.F.’ which interpolated Fatboy Slim’s iconic floor-filling anthem ‘Praise You’ captured the raucousness of their performance.

Before they arrived on stage, mass crowds gathered in the Woodsies area which forced Glastonbury to shut off the section for safety purposes. The high demand to see Kasabian should come as no shock, as they are still a festival headliner across the UK, and those fortunate enough to gain entry into the tent didn’t take the experience for granted. Perhaps, they’ll be invited back to the Pyramid Stage in 2025.

Prior to the set, Pizzorno admitted he has “no recollection” of their set in 2014 during an appearance on The One Show and hinted at performing in 2024, stating, “the wellies are always packed.” Reflecting further on their last set, he added, “The levels we reached that night were just insane. It was such an honour, it was 10 years from being first on to working our way up to headlining.”

Elsewhere this summer, Kasabian are set to return home to Leicester for a huge outdoor show at Victoria Park on July 6th.

Glastonbury Festival runs from June 26th until June 30th, and Far Out is on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly. This year’s event is headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
