Glastonbury 2024: Kasabian confirm details of secret set

After much speculation over recent weeks, Kasabian have confirmed they will be appearing on the Woodsies Stage at Glastonbury Festival on June 29th at 6:00pm.

Secret sets are part of the excitement of Glastonbury. Every year, notable acts of international stature make guest appearances at Worthy Farm. In 2023, Foo Fighters delivered a not-so secret set on the main stage, under the moniker of The Churnups, and this year, it’s Kasabian’s time to be the last-minute addition.

Although Kasabian have now taken to social media to confirm their set, bookmakers stopped taking bets on the possibility many weeks ago, suggesting they knew the Leicestershire rockers were bound to play Glastonbury.

Notably, Kasabian headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2014, and a decade later, they have finally made their long-awaited return to Worthy Farm ahead of the release of their new album, Happenings, on July 5th. The set will act as the perfect reminder of Kasabian’s quality as a live act, as well as showing that Serge Pizzorno is more than equipped to carry the mantle.

During a recent appearance on The One Show, Pizzorno admitted he has “no recollection” of their set in 2014 and hinted at performing in 2024, stating, “the wellies are always packed.” Reflecting further on their last set, he added, “The levels we reached that night were just insane. It was such an honour, it was 10 years from being first on to working our way up to headlining.”

Elsewhere this summer, Kasabian are set to return home to Leicester for a huge outdoor show at Victoria Park on July 6th.

Prior to Kasabian announcing themselves as the ‘TBA’ act on Woodsies, Kings of Leon were heavily rumoured to appear in the slot. However, on June 29th, the band’s bassist Jared Followill shared on X: “Everybody keeps telling me we’re playing a secret gig at Glastonbury today. Somebody has to tell our manager, booking agent, singer, etc.. ASAP.”

In response to a fan who replied, “Does the bassist know?!”, Followill jokingly responded, “I guess there is a small chance they’re actually playing without me. I still would have at least liked to watch the show.”

Following Kasabian’s set at Woodsies, Yard Act will take to the same stage. Prior to their performance, they spoke exclusively with Far Out about their set, with frontman James Smith reciting lyrics from ‘Dream Job’, stating, “It feels ace, top, mint, boss, class, sweet, deece. Yeah, not bad. Good! This year will be better because we aren’t as knackered as last time. And it will be bigger too because there are seven of us on stage now.”

Glastonbury Festival runs from June 26th until June 30th, and Far Out is on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly. This year’s event is headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
