Glastonbury 2024: Michael and Emily Eavis “blown away” by sales

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2024 have sold out within less than an hour of becoming available online.

In a post on Twitter, the festival organisers, father and daughter duo Michael and Emily Eavis, thanked fans for the immediate response to the available tickets. “Our thanks to everyone who bought one, and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply,” a statement reads. “There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2024.”

Emily Eavis also expressed further thanks through her personal Instagram account and apologised to those who did not secure tickets. “We’re blown away that so many people want to come (we all still remember the years when they didn’t!), and I’m sorry that many of you missed out,” she wrote.

She continued: “Demand far exceeds supply, and with many millions of devices trying at once, it means the system can only work at certain speed.”

The festival line-up is yet to be revealed and will be announced early next year. Emily Eavis has already prompted much fan excitement by suggesting that a “really big American artist” will headline next year’s edition.

Earlier this month, Emily Eavis shut down reports that Madonna, Coldplay and Dua Lipa are to be the headliners for Glastonbury Festival 2024. She said in a statement on her social media accounts, “As always, there is much speculation and excitement about who is playing at Glastonbury. We are working on the line-up day and night at the moment, but it’s still changing every day.”

Eavis’ message continued: “The story about our confirmed headliners is untrue. As always, we love your enthusiasm and guesswork – but accurate news on headliners will be with you sometime in the new year!”
