Glastonbury 2024: Jessie Ware joined by Romy to perform new collaboration
During her headline set on West Holts at Glastonbury Festival, Jessie Ware was joined by The xx’s Romy to perform their new collaboration, ‘Lift You Up’.
The party anthem track has since been released on streaming platforms, but the carnival-like atmosphere that Ware created during her performance at Glastonbury Festival was the perfect environment to premiere ‘Lift You Up’.
While most of those who were fortunate to have tickets at Glastonbury Festival had flocked to see Coldplay on the Pyramid Stage, Ware provided a distinct alternative for those who wanted to dance the night away, and escape into euphoria.
Ware’s lengthy set largely relied on recent material from her last two albums, 2020’s What’s Your Pleasure and 2023’s That! Feels! Good!, which has seen the English singer embark on a fun-filled new chapter of her career.
Around the halfway stage of her performance, Ware welcomed Romy to the stage to perform their new disco banger, ‘Lift You Up’. Ahead of the track, Ware told the crowd: “I was so excited to be in the room with my friend and to see how she works and to hear her beautiful voice.”
She continued: “I’m so proud of the record. It’s a song that’s about both of us being too hard on ourselves, and not believing enough in ourselves. I think anyone can relate to that.”
Glastonbury has been a busy weekend so far for Romy, and she’s still yet to play her main set of the weekend, which is scheduled to take place at Woodsies on June 30th at 8:00pm. On June 28th, Romy not only DJ’d at Levels, but she also made guest appearances with Charli XCX, and staged a reunion with her bandmates in The xx during Jamie xx’s headline set at Woodsies.
At Glastonbury, Jamie previewed material from his forthcoming record, In Waves, but he also made sure to take a trip down memory lane. In addition to revisiting beloved creations from his first record, In Colour, Oliver Sim and Romy joined him for the party.
After The xx pairing both arrived on-stage, the trio premiered the new track, ‘Waited All Night’, which is set to appear on Jamie’s forthcoming album and features both Sim and Romy.
The wild atmosphere was ramped up when they then performed The xx’s famous cover of ‘You’ve Got The Love’, which was originally performed by The Source and Candi Staton before Florence and The Machine had a hit with it in 2009.
Glastonbury Festival runs from June 26th until June 30th, and Far Out is on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly. This year’s event is headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
