Glastonbury 2024: festival to offer tickets for those affected by conflict
Despite selling out in under an hour for the 2024 festival, Glastonbury will be giving away free tickets to help support people affected by conflict. As part of their continued community and charitable outreach, Worthy Farm shared the news.
Getting Glastonbury tickets is a difficult task these days. In 2023, over 2.5 million people were vying for the 135,000 tickets, meaning that there was only a 6% chance of bagging out. For this year’s festival, they sold out in a record time as they were all gone under an hour after the sale opened.
While usually it all comes down to having another go during the April ticket resale, this year, Glastonbury are offering up a new way to get in while helping raise vital money for charity. The team have shared a new competition where festival lovers can enter a lottery to win one of 20 pairs of tickets up for grabs.
To enter, you have to donate via Crowdfunder to help raise money for a selection of causes. “Money raised will be donated to the British Red Cross, Oxfam and War Child who are working in areas of conflict delivering humanitarian support to those who need it most,” the festival’s social media post announced.
These three charities are amongst many that Glastonbury supports and works with every year. Oxfam, WaterAid and Greenpeace are major and close collaborators with the festival, given space across the site. Last year the festival donated a record-breaking £3.7 million to a selection of causes as they continue to try and do good while giving festival-goers a good time. But this time, fans of the festival can get involved too and hopefully get themselves a way in.
The prize draw is open to UK residents only and runs until 12 noon on Thursday 28th March. You can enter multiple times to up your chances of winning, with each entry costing £10 which will be donated.
Despite originally having a fundraising target of £100,000, this has already been beaten. At the time of writing, the festival have upped their Crowdfunder goal to £250,000 and have nearly achieved it with £210,000 donated.
Glastonbury festival 2024 will be held between June 26-30. The first two ticket sales sold out swiftly, but there is still a chance to get tickets through this competition or the April resale. No lineup announcement has come yet but the Worthy Farm team have hinted that the legends slot will be filled by an iconic female artist and one of the headliners is a major American star, leading to plenty of rumours as to who it might be.
