Vampire Weekend rocked up to perform a secret set at Glastonbury Festival 2019, treating fans to a surprise cover of Fleetwood Mac in the process.
The band, who will perform again ahead of headliners The Cure on The Pyramid Stage tomorrow as part of their official scheduled slot, turned up today to open The Park Stage at 11.30am this morning.
While accepting requests from the crowd, Vampire Weekend performed the likes of ‘Cape Cod’, ‘Finger Back’ and ‘Giant’. The band also produced a cover of Chicago’s ‘Saturday In The Park’ alongside their expansive back catalogue.
The talking point of the performance, however, was a lovely rendition of Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Everywhere’, to rapturous applause from the fans. Enjoy some fan footage of that moment, below.
In other Vampire Weekend related news, the band have revealed a string of new 2019 UK tour dates in support of their recently released new album.
The band, who also released their new music video starring Jerry Seinfeld, also recruited Hollywood A-lister Jonah Hill to direct the clip. ‘Sunflower’ is one of four tracks released by Vampire Weekend which have been taken from their new album Father of the Bride.
The record, which is the follow-up to 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City, was released on May 3rd. The album will be made up of 18 songs and run for around 59 minutes. According to Koenig, the vinyl edition of the record will be released on two LPs.
Ahead of the release, Vampire Weekend have named four shows to take place in the UK this November. Starting off in Edinburgh, they’ll travel down to Manchester and Birmingham before finishing up in London.
