‘Ghostbusters’ actor Jennifer Runyon dead at 65

Jennifer Runyon, an actor known for her roles in films such as Ghostbusters, has died aged 65.

Runyon began her career in the 1980s, starring in various films and TV shows over the years, with her best-known appearance coming in the classic 1984 sci-fi movie. She reportedly passed away following a cancer diagnosis.

The news of the actor’s death on March 6th was announced in a Facebook post from her friend Erin Murphy, who wrote (per Variety): “So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady. I’ll miss you Jenn. My thoughts are with your family and beautiful children.”

The statement added: “She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends. I know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace, our Jenn.”

Aside from her roles on the big screen, Runyon also took on various parts in TV shows, with her leading part as Gwendolyn Pierce in the CBS 1984 sitcom Charles in Charge being his most prominent.

She also starred in titles such as A Very Brady Christmas, The In Crowd, and Quantum Leap, as well as taking on guest appearances on the likes of Murder, She Wrote and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Runyon’s acting career reached its peak in the 1980s, before she officially announced that she had retired from the industry in 2014 and had taken up an alternative path of being a teacher.

Hailing from Chicago, she married her husband, Todd Corman, in 1991, who worked in film and television productions.

Runyon is survived by her husband and two children, Wyatt and Bayley.
