Gerard Way forms new musical project called The Mock-Ups

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has formed a new band, which appears to be titled The Mock-Ups.

The news came via way of a cryptic post by the label Gauzy Records. They teased a new project, titled ‘I Want To Know Your Name’, by the new group, The Mock-Ups. Gerard Way’s name is in the credits.

Along with Way, members from American ska punk band The Interrupters are also included in the credits. Though the cryptic post doesn’t reveal much, it does suggest that the ‘Teenagers’ singer will be on vocals and bass on the project.

Alongside the emo icon, Aimee, Kevin, and Jesse from The Interrupters will be on backing vocals, keys and production, and drums, respectively. Gauzy Records also have a history with the band Jagged Baptist Club, who recently released their album Temptation Death House.

The lyrics scribbled in red on the post begin, “I just wanna know your name / your take the body and I’ll take the blame / cuz now I’m gonna say it plain / I wanna know your name / I wanna know your name.”

Way has been busy as of late. Earlier this summer, he announced that My Chemical Romance will play two Wembley Stadium shows, on July 10th and 11th. The last time they played in the UK was in 2022, as part of their reunion tour.

This follows their sold-out North American stadium tour, Long Live: The Black Parade, which began earlier this year. Far Out were in attendance at the Philadelphia show.

In a five-star review of the affair, Tim Coffman wrote, “Whenever Way looked out at his loyal subjects, he didn’t look with disdain by any stretch. His is the face of someone who knows that he was part of something bigger than himself, and seeing the looks on everyone’s faces, My Chemical Romance has created its own little family whose bond will never be broken.”
