Inquest held into death of Oasis fan at Wembley Stadium concert

An inquest held at Barnet Coroner’s Court has confirmed Oasis fan Lee Claydon died from “multiple body injuries” at Wembley Stadium in August.

Senior coroner Andrew Walker oversaw the inquest on September 11th into Claydon’s death on August 2nd, which revealed the results of the preliminary post-mortem examination. Claydon tragically fell from an upper tier of Wembley Stadium at the end of the concert on August 2nd.

Claydon, a father from Bournemouth, was treated at a medical centre at Wembley Stadium following the fall and was pronounced dead at 10:38pm.

According to the BBC, Walker has adjourned the case to a further pre-inquest hearing, which is set to be held on November 19th.

Ahead of the next hearing, police are currently monitoring CCTV as well as mobile phone footage from a number of witnesses who were also in attendance at Wembley Stadium.

Following news of the tragic death, Oasis paid tribute to Claydon, writing on social media, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

His father, Clive Claydon, described his late son as “a hard-working family man” who “loved his kid”, adding, “He was a lovely bloke, loved to be with his family … He had everything going for him. I am so devastated.”

Claydon’s brother also set up a GoFundMe page in his memory with the aim of raising £5,000 and raised over £30,000 in total. He wrote in the description of the page, “Please help us raise as much funds as we can to take one worry off Amanda and family right now as they are going through any family’s worst nightmare.”
