FX makes decision on the future of ‘The Bear’

Having become one of the most decorated shows on television, The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White, is now established as a full-fledged cultural juggernaut that keeps viewers perched constantly on the edge of their seats and is not set to end anytime soon.

Infiltrating popular culture is a tough thing for any series to do, but creator Christopher Storer’s intense kitchen drama has done just that. Furthermore, fans of the show are now happily navigating their way around their own homes while shouting “Corner!” or “Behind!” anytime they enter a room.

Tracing the journey of White’s Carmy Berzatto as he returns to his hometown to take over the sandwich shop previously operated by his now-deceased brother, The Bear has been drowning in acclaim and awards season glory ever since it first premiered in June 2022.

The winner of a Primetime Emmy for ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’ in 2023 and a Golden Globe for ‘Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy’ in 2024, the cast and crew have conspired to win the show a combined total of 14 trophies from the aforementioned ceremonies, an indicator of just how big The Bear has become.

The third season was renewed last November with an eye to premiering this summer. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Storer’s riveting, intense, and nerve-shredding endeavour hasn’t only been renewed for a fourth run of episodes, but they’ll be shooting back-to-back.

Having rocketed Storer, White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri to new heights within the industry, the decision is presumably driven by FX’s desire to lock in the core cast and creative team members, who are now ranking among the most in-demand talents in Hollywood.

While The Bear will be filming its third and fourth seasons consecutively, FX’s desire to maintain an annual release for each new block of episodes more than likely means the latter won’t premiere until somewhere around mid-2025. However, that’s a small price to pay for its viewership being able to sleep soundly in the knowledge that the enthralling ups and downs of the hit show won’t be ending anytime soon.

In an era where the most notable TV shows are often absent for years at a time between seasons, the shooting schedule is reassuring for anyone desperate for their next fix of The Bear to know that 2024 and 2025 are both guaranteed to bring it back to the small screen.
